I got the Brownstone Birdhouse from Michaels and decided to turn it into a fairy house after the kids were done playing with it.
I repainted it purple & white and sanded it in some areas so it'd look less clean. I hot glued it onto an oval plaque (probably this one) and then smothered it all with moss.
The moss, faux flowers, mushrooms, stone, popsicle sticks, and miniature birds are also from Michaels.
I got the purple lanterns from Fairy Small Things.
And the succulent pots? They're actually push pins from Target.
I made some accessories for the yard using mostly stuff from nature.
I made the birdhouse by drilling into a walnut, gluing an acorn cap on top, and gluing twigs. Then I glued stones onto some cardboard and stuck the stick in the middle, covering it with moss and faux flowers.
For the wheelbarrow, I used some cardboard as a base and glued twigs horizontally on some sides and then pieces of bark on the others. I glued some dried seed pods for the wheels. For the handle, I just glued a twig in place and covered it with moss. Inside, there's a little basket made of twine.
The mailbox was a bit more fiddly. I used a small piece of toilet paper roll for the curve and glued tiny pieces of bark around it. The bottom piece is cardboard with bark attached underneath and the lid is bark cut to shape. I even glued a piece of twine on the lid and on the inside of the mailbox so it could actually be closed. And of course, I put tons of moss inside and out to cover the empty parts. I also made a miniature letter and envelope but that quickly disappeared in the wind.
And I made a shelf on the side of the house but I forgot to get a photo of it. But it was basically constructed like the other stuff, lots of cardboard and bark.
I'm going to leave this out on the porch so I wonder how well it'll hold up.
